Dubai Unveils E-Gaming League Set to Launch In March 2025

Dubai is gearing up to make waves in esports with its E-Gaming League Set to Launch in March 2025. The Emirates E-Sports Federation, in partnership with ITW Universe, is spearheading this initiative. Inspired by major sports leagues like the NBA and EPL, the EGL will introduce a fresh approach to competitive gaming.

The league will feature six franchise teams competing in various game genres, including MOBA, FPS, Sports, and Racing. It will also debut an innovative draft system aimed at promoting competitive balance and encourage the growth of new talent. This unique format sets the league apart, offering a more structured and exciting experience.

To discover the best talent, global qualifiers will begin early in 2025. Amateur players looking to go pro from around the world will have the opportunity to secure spots in the draft. Here, they could end up competing alongside seasoned international stars. This process not only boosts competition but also reinforces the UAE’s ambition to become a global esports hub.

The Current Buzz

His Highness Sheikh Sultan Bin Khalifa Bin Shakbout Al Nahyan, President of the Emirates E-Sports Federation, stressed the EGL’s significance for the future of the industry. He believes the league will bring together key players—publishers, organizers, brands, and gamers—to drive the future of esports in the region.

Vivek Chandra, Director of ITW Universe, echoed this vision. He expects the EGL to set a new global standard. It will position the UAE as a key destination for esports talent and innovation. This aligns with the league’s broader goal of turning the UAE into a central hub for esports excellence.

Saeed Ali Al-Tahir, General Secretary of the Federation, highlighted the league’s role in nurturing emerging talent. He sees the EGL as a platform that will boost the UAE’s standing as a global esports leader. The tournament will hopefully allow fresh players to rise and shine.

Nayeem Khan, Head of Gaming/Esports at ITW Universe, added that the EGL will offer more than just a tournament. With fan zones, community events, and live performances, the league will provide an immersive entertainment experience that elevates esports to mainstream sports status.

With the gaming market generating over $340 billion in 2023, the EGL aims to tap into this booming industry. By blending proven sports frameworks with esports, the league hopes to create a sustainable ecosystem for talent development and international competition.

This announcement signals the beginning of an exciting new chapter for esports, with the EGL poised to become a flagship event on the global stage.
