Gears of War: E-Day Announced at Summer Fest

At Summer Game Fest 2024, Microsoft unveiled the latest installment of the Gears series titled Gears of War: E-day. The game is being developed by The Coalition (Xbox’s studio dedicated to the Gears franchise) and is built on the Unreal Engine 5.

Gears of War: E-day, a unique prequel set 15 years before the first Gears installment, does not continue the Gears 5 storyline. Instead, it delves into the first fight of iconic characters Marcus Fenix and Dominick (Dom) Santiago against the initial Locust horde invasion, offering a fresh perspective on the Gears universe.

In an interview with Xbox Wire, Brand Director Nicole Fawcette confirmed, “We’re not retreating from that storyline in any way. But in [this] moment, we had an opportunity to write our next step, and this one just felt too good to miss.”

Microsoft has exciting news for Xbox and PC gamers! They hinted that Gears of War: E-day might be launching exclusively on Xbox Series S|X and PC. While there are rumors of a possible release on the PS5 console, there’s no official confirmation yet, making the exclusivity even more thrilling.

Gears of War: E-day doesn’t have a release date yet. Upon release, Xbox and PC gamers with Game Pass subscriptions will have immediate access on the first day without any additional purchase.
