Nintendo Direct recently confirmed the release of a Dragon Quest III remake called Dragon Quest III HD-2D.
The remake has an official release date for November 14. Players can now pre-order it on Enix’s store, which also includes a special $200 collector’s edition.
The game mirrors the earlier 1988 version of Dragon Quest. Using Square Enix’s HD-2D environment, it utilizes 2D sprites rendered against 3D backgrounds. Thus, it is one of the most promising games of 2024.
This setup supports improved visuals and graphics, making the game more visually appealing and compatible with modern consoles.
The remake has three difficulty levels: Dracky Quest Mode, Dragon Quest Mode, and Draconian Quest Mode. Difficulty levels increase from Dracky to Draconian.
The HD-2D remake of Dragon Quest III will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. Reports estimate the standard edition MSRP to be about $59.99, and the Collectors Edition MSRP about $199.99.

The original release of Dragon Quest 3 broke its sales record by selling over a million copies on its release day and 3 million copies in the first week of its release in 1988.
With Enix describing the remix as a “stunning reimagining of the beloved masterpiece,” that record might be broken again after the remake’s launch on November 14.
